Regional Work

Our efforts to create a better transportation system in the Capital Region often include pushing for more infrastructure and policy at the local level. To better understand the full depth and breadth of our work in the region, visit our Albany and Troy Work pages.

Repaving Without Improving

2026

Every year, streets in our cities are being repaved. It's great that potholes are being fixed, but did you know the City of Albany and the City of Troy both have local laws that require them to make common-sense safety improvements when streets are being repaved?

“Reimagining” I-787

2026

When it comes to the bigger picture of how changes to 787 can truly impact these communities, the vision for real, transformative change is missing. We cannot solve the problems associated with 787 today by using the same thinking that helped create 787.

State of the Streets (Snow Removal)

2026

Weeks after the region’s first major snowstorm in 2026, we observed that many sidewalks, crosswalks, bridges and bike lanes were still unusable and full of snow between Albany and Troy.

Championing Connections

2025

The Campus Connector Trail will connect UAlbany to RPI and several key destinations in between, with a network of safe, comfortable infrastructure.

Right Size the Lanes!

2025

Roadway design plays a huge role in how drivers behave. Historically, roadway design across the United States has prioritized the convenience of vehicle speeds at the expense of local quality of life.

Transit Oral Histories

We have conducted impromptu interviews at bus stops to capture everyday people’s transit stories.

We want to hear your transit story! If you’d like to share more about your commute and experiences utilizing public transit in the Capital Region.
